Building Connections: Max Noble on Why Industry Events Matter

35 events, 14 countries, and countless connections made. Max's dedication to building relationships and driving growth has made him essential to our success.
Industry events offer unique opportunities to connect, learn, and grow. In this month's Inside Look, Max Noble, our Director of Sales, discusses why attending these events matters and how they build meaningful relationships and drive business success.
Events are a big part of what ShipOffers does. Why do you think they're so important in eCommerce?
Events bring together like-minded professionals who are looking to connect, collaborate, and grow. The energy and focus at these events allow us to engage with others who are aligned with our mission, and it's a chance to create relationships that can lead to personal growth and business opportunities.
What's your approach to making meaningful connections at these events?
The key is to start with curiosity and generosity. I prioritize listening to what others are looking to achieve, whether it's finding a reliable partner, expanding their business, or exploring new opportunities. By understanding their goals, I can figure out how ShipOffers can support them. It's not about pitching first; it's about building trust and rapport.
With a plethora of knowledgable and interesting people at these events, how do you make sure you're ready?
Preparation is key, but it's not about overthinking. It's about being ready to make the most of every opportunity. Events are an exciting chance to meet others in the field and learn from their unique perspectives. Before attending, I like to think about the kinds of conversations I want to have and what I'd genuinely like to learn from others. For me, the goal is to show up curious and open so every conversation feels meaningful.
So the event went great, what happens afterward?
Follow-up is where the magic happens. After the event, I always make a point to drop a message, whether it's sharing a resource we discussed, thanking them for the conversation, or even just staying in touch. Sometimes, those connections turn into opportunities right away, other times they become lasting friendships or even evolve into partnerships down the road.
